Monson's premier private label ice melter is 100% calcium chloride pellets (90-92% assay) which is proven to work faster and at lower temperatures than any other ice melter on the market.

FASTER:  SUPER-MELT™ calcium chloride pellets attract moisture from the surrounding atmosphere allowing it to quickly dissolve into a brine. As the pellets dissolve, heat is given off (exothermic reaction) which allows the pellet to bore through the ice faster than other ice melters. At 5° F, this melting occurs more than three times faster with SUPER-MELT™ than with rock salt, pottassium chloride and most blends.

LOWER TEMPERATURES: Results of independent testing prove that SUPER-MELT™ calcium chloride pellets still effectively melt through snow and ice to temperatures as low as -25° F. These same tests show that most other deicers effectively stop deicing once temperatures fall below +20° F.

SAFER: On concrete and the environment: The American Concrete Institute classifed the rate of chemical attack on concrete as "negligible". Tests show that it is the effects of the freeze/thaw cycle that cause concrete to pit or spall. The liquid that creeps into cracks expands as it freezes and "pulls apart" concrete. Because calcium chloride lowers the freezing point of the liquid, it reduces the number of freeze/thaw cycles and allows more time to mechanically remove ice from the surface. Because calcium is a necessary plant nutrient, an Iowa State University test found calcium chloride to be easier on turf grass than many other deicers when used as directed. SUPER-MELT™ is also a cleaner ice melter as it does not track or leave an unsightly residue on carpets.
